Dr. Patricia Reiff of Rice University in Houston, Texas will be leading this expedition. This rare and remarkable natural phenomenon is not to be missed, as the next eclipse offering this much totality won’t occur until 2114. With an 80% likelihood of clear skies on the day of the eclipse, this region is the perfect location to experience this awe-inspiring event. In particular, viewing the total solar eclipse will be weather dependent, and there is always a chance that passengers will not be able to view totality or view it only for a short period of time. Neither Eclipse Tours.com nor Direct Travel makes any guarantee as to the viewing of the total solar eclipse. Keep in mind that unexpected schedule changes could affect the program. Your Tour Director will keep you fully informed of any changes to planned activities.
You will arrive in Cairo and the remainder of your day is at leisure.
Morning: Start the day with a visit to the Citadel of Saladin, an impressive fortress that offers breathtaking views of Cairo. Learn about the history of the citadel and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the Alabaster Mosque.
Late Morning: Visit the historic neighborhood of Coptic Cairo, which is home to some of the oldest churches in Egypt, such as the Hanging Church and the Church of St. George. Marvel at the intricate details and stunning architecture of these ancient buildings.
Afternoon: After a morning of exploring, head to the Khan el-Khalili market, a historic marketplace with a maze of streets and shops selling everything from souvenirs to jewelry. Immerse yourself in the bustling energy of the market and haggle for some great bargains.
You will also have the opportunity to explore the wonders of the Pyramids of Giza, the enigmatic Great Sphinx, and the captivating Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).

Luxor is a journey back in time to explore the fascinating history and culture of ancient Egypt. Visit the Karnak Temple Complex, the largest temple complex in Egypt, and marvel at the stunning columns, obelisks, and hieroglyphs that tell the story of ancient Egyptian civilization.
Morning: Begin your first day in Luxor with a visit to the Karnak Temple Complex, the largest ancient religious site in the world, and marvel at its impressive columns and stunning hieroglyphs.
Afternoon: After lunch, visit the Luxor Temple, which is also a magnificent ancient religious site that dates back to the 14th century BC. Stroll among the towering statues and appreciate the grandeur of this awe-inspiring monument.
Morning: Start your second day in Luxor with a trip to the West Bank of the Nile, which is home to the famous Valley of the Kings. Explore the tombs of pharaohs and their treasures, and gain insights into the fascinating history of ancient Egypt.
Afternoon: After the Valley of the Kings, visit the mortuary temple of Hatshepsut, one of the most iconic female pharaohs of ancient Egypt. Take in the breathtaking views of the landscape and the temple’s stunning architecture.
Morning: The last day of your trip is the day of the solar eclipse. Spend the morning in anticipation of the main event with a leisurely breakfast and some time to relax at your hotel.
Afternoon: Mid-afternoon, join your tour group and head to the exclusive viewing location for the solar eclipse. As the moon covers the sun and the sky turns dark, experience the wonder and beauty of the eclipse in the company of fellow eclipse enthusiasts.
Fly to Cairo for your return trip home.

Travel Protection Plan coverage is required for this program upon deposit. Pricing for such coverage is additional to the base fare and is calculated based on resident state/province and age of participants. By signing up for the tour, you agree to purchase a Travel Protection Plan by credit card upon receipt of deposit. Due to recent changes in travel insurance rules, Direct Travel Groups Team reservations@directtravelgroups.com will give you the breakdown and price PRIOR to processing your deposit. This ensures all coverage is in place as most insurance require purchase the same day of the deposit now.
Outside the US or if you choose to buy your own insurance the minimum coverage is for $1,000,000 USD emergency evacuation and repatriation and $50,000USD emergency medical PER PERSON. Direct Travel Groups Team reservations@directtravelgroups.com will also need to get Direct Travel’s approval on all insurance policies to assure it meets the charter company’s requirements.
Reserving your space on this program requires a $1,500.00 refundable deposit per person. A second deposit of $2,000.00 per person will be due on or before January 3, 2025 (or $3,500.00 due when booking after that date). On January 3, 2025 all monies paid are non-refundable. Deposits are accepted by credit card only.
Reservations are acknowledged in order received. The final payment is due August 7, 2025. Direct Travel handles all invoicing.
We highly recommend the purchase of trip cancellation and delay insurance (cancel for any reason is recommended). Although, you will not need to purchase it until January 3 ,2025 as the deposit is no risk and FULLY REFUNDABLE until that date.
